Habitat for Humanity – We’re off to a good start with volunteers for the Habitat for Humanity Faith Build! Our first volunteer day is Thursday, Aug. 27, and we have a couple openings left for both the morning (8 a.m. to noon) and afternoon (12:30 – 4:30 p.m.) shifts. We have reserved two other dates for our ACC parishioners to help with this project – Sept. 10 and Oct. 1. We will schedule up to 8 volunteers for each morning and each afternoon shift; you can sign up for one or both shifts. Please call Kris Boyle at 320/248-8719 or Rose Blesener at 320/260-5560 to volunteer. More information is also available at cmhfh.org
Homeless Helping Homeless (HHH) – There are literally hundreds of persons experiencing homelessness in the greater St. Cloud area, and several non-profit agencies are providing help. For those persons who choose to stay outdoors, items such as tents, tarps, sleeping bags, backpacks, bug spray, etc. are needed. Please call Harry (612/868-0465 or Mary Fleegel (612.868-0464) of HHH to donate.
Immigration Nation – A six part Netflix program “with unprecedented access to ICE operations, as well as moving portraits of immigrants, …takes a deep look at US immigration today.” The series may serve as an introduction to many concerns surrounding immigration issues, and a backdrop for us to consider our Catholic social teaching regarding immigration as well as our response to the Biblical mandate to “welcome the stranger.”
