World Mission Sunday
Every October, the Catholic Church world-wide celebrates Mission Month, a chance to learn more about our call to be a part of Christ’s mission in and around the world. During this month, every Catholic diocese is asked to celebrate World Mission Sunday, this year taking place the weekend of October 18th. World Mission Sunday is a day for us to learn more about our brothers and sisters in faith around the world and the many needs facing so many Catholics today. It is also a day in which we recognize our call to share with those in need, by participating in the World Mission Sunday collection, that helps support the pastoral, catechetical, charitable and evangelizing work of the Church in over 1,100 of the most in-need dioceses in 180 countries worldwide through the work of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (Envelopes available in parish packets, in a special Mission insert in the Central MN Catholic Magazine - October edition, or by contacting the Mission Office). Please give and pray generously for our global brothers and sisters this World Mission Sunday!
Prayer for Mission Sunday
Almighty God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to reconcile the world to yourself: We praise and bless you for those whom you have sent in the power of the Spirit to preach the Gospel to all nations. We thank you that in all parts of the earth a community of love has been gathered together by their prayers and labors, and that in every place your servants call upon your Name; for the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours for ever. Amen.
