Beginning in Spring of 2019 Bishop Kettler, along with the Diocesan Planning Office, mandated that all parishes in the St. Cloud Diocese become a part of an Area Catholic Community (ACC). With this directive came the request that each ACC form a Transition Team or Committee assigned to help bring their particular ACC parishes together and accomplish some very specific goals by June 30th of 2020. Since March of 2019, our ACC Committee (which consists of 15 representatives from each of our 4 parishes of St. Peter, St. Joseph, St. Michael and St. Paul) has been meeting on a monthly basis to begin this process of transition. During the past 1 ½ years we have accomplished many of the goals that came from our Bishop. Among the many items, this also included implementing a new ACC Weekday and Weekend Mass schedule that would better prepare us for the future challenges of our diocese and parishes.
As mentioned by Fr. Timothy Gapinski. a couple weeks ago, our ACC Committee thought it best at this time to host an ACC Parish Hall Meeting and give a Power Point presentation in order to update our parish members on our committee’s progress with special emphasis on our ACC Committee’s rationale for our current Mass schedule which seems to affect people most of all. Our hope at this meeting is to answer any questions and receive any helpful feedback which our ACC Committee will then consider in their future decisions and discussions.
It is for this reason that I would like to again invite and remind anyone from our ACC Parishes who would like to attend, to please come to our ACC Parish Hall Meeting scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 14th at St. Peter Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the gym All are welcome to learn more about our ACC decisions and process. As mentioned by Fr. Timothy, there is a mailbox in back of each church with paper and pencil for anyone to write down a question they might want to have answered and place it in the mailbox which will then be brought up at our October 14th gathering. You can also submit questions on our taocatholic.org website using the contact tab. Covid policies of social distancing and masks will be required at this meeting.
As we face new challenges (not only with Covid-19) but with a steady decline of clergy and changes in demographics within the St. Cloud area and Diocese, we as a Church need to respond to these challenges and yet do our best to work together and reach out to those who still yearn for the Good News of Jesus Christ. There is much to do in evangelization as well. Until then, we look forward to seeing you at our gathering. For those who cannot attend, this gathering will be Live-streamed and video recorded on our website for others to review. God’s blessing and peace as we work together to remain faithful in Christ!
